TRADE THE DAY Guest Author: Brenda Novak
By - August 14, 2013
On August 23, starting at midnight, I will be hosting a special event called Trade the Day: Spotlight on Team Alaina. During this twenty-four hour blog-a-thon, proceeds from sales of my new book, The Trade, made on my publisher's website at stairwaypress.com will go to benefit Team Alaina for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. In the weekdays leading up to the big event, I will continue to introduce you to two of the day's scheduled special guests, some which will be guest blogging, some who will be hosting giveaways of autographed books and other goodies, and some who will be doing both! Get to know this fantastic group of people right here, and come back on August 23 to join us for a day of 24 hours, 23 guest authors, and 1 goal...a cure.
I'm happy to introduce the next guest author:
It was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak’s author career. “I caught my daycare provider drugging my children with cough syrup to get them to sleep while I was away,”
Brenda says. “It was then I decided that I needed to do something from home.”
Now a New York Times and USA Today Bestseller, Brenda is looking forward to a brand new small town contemporary series beginning with — WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES (8/28/12), WHEN SNOW FALLS (10/28/12) and WHEN SUMMER COMES (1/28/13). There is a prequel to kick off the series titled WHEN WE TOUCH, which is currently available as a free download on her website or at any etailer.
Many of her books have been designated an RT Book Review Magazine “Top Pick” and have gone on to place in contests such as the Romance Writers of America RITA™ Award, the National Readers’ Choice, the Bookseller’s Best, the Write Touch Readers’ Award, and the Book Buyer’s Best.
Brenda has given writing workshops at various RWA events, RT Book Review Magazine conventions, California Fiction Writer meetings, women’s groups and library events. She’s also done television and radio, including GOOD MORNING AMERICA, YOUNG ICONS, a nationally syndicated show she did with her son, Thad, Fox 40 News, News 10, KCRA, GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO, GOOD DAY ARIZONA, Booklover TV and KFBK News Talk Radio.
Publishers Weekly says Brenda’s novels are “richly dramatic.” According to Library Journal, “Her work will appeal to those who like their romances with a “sophisticated touch.” In addition, RT Book Review Magazine says, “Brenda Novak skillfully blends richly developed characters and emotionally intense issues to create a powerful romance. This is an author destined for stardom.”
ABOUT WHEN SUMMER COMES
One day, Callie Vanetta receives devastating news. . .
She needs a liver transplant. But her doctors warn that, in her case, the chances of finding a compatible donor aren't good. Determined to spend whatever time she has left on her own terms, she keeps the diagnosis to herself and moves out to her late grandparents' farm. She's always wanted to live there. But the farm hasn't been worked in years and she begins to fear it's too much, she'll have to return to town.
One night, a stranger comes knocking at her door…
He's an attractive and mysterious drifter by the name of Levi McCloud who offers to trade work for a few nights' shelter. Callie figures she doesn't have anything to lose. He needs a place to stay until he can fix his motorcycle; she needs an extra pair of hands. The arrangement seems ideal until what was supposed to be temporary starts to look more and more permanent. Then she realizes she does have something to lose — her heart. And, although he doesn't yet know it, Levi stands to lose even more.
